In 1920, prior to Herbert Hoover's run to the White House, Lou Henry Hoover spoke at Bryn Mawr College, one of the "Seven Sisters" women's colleges, shortly before the 19th Amendment was ratified. She was invited by League of Women Voters' president Marion E. Park to address the students.

Lou said: "That we have the vote means nothing. That we use it in the right way means everything."
