World War II - Letters Home - Love Jimmy

SKU FDR96186
James M. Cass, Jr. enlisted in the Navy on July 29, 1942, and, after basic training, was sent to Pearl Harbor, where he served until November of 1945. From his early days of basic training, Jimmy started writing home of his experiences, observations, successes, and frustrations of serving in the Territory of Hawaii during World War II. After the war, Jimmy organized the letters, all tied up with string, into neat little bundles by day, within a month and then by year. They were then stored away. After Jimmy’s death, the letters were moved to their daughter’s house. And, finally, in July 2013, the box of letters was moved into their son, Will’s, house where the box was opened, the letters were untied and were read again……. 418 Pages.
