One of our most popular souvenirs, this lucite magnet has a photo of President Eisenhower and a translation of the Latin inscription, "Suaviter in modo, fortiter in re", attributed to Claudio Aqua Viva. The translation of the Latin is "Gently in Manner, Strongly in Deed".

This motto was displayed on the desk plate that Ike kept on his desk at the White House and later at the Gettysburg office, and which is now displayed in The American Presidency exhibition of the Smithsonian Institution. The magnet measures 3" x 2".
