A "challenge coin" is a small coin or medallion, usually military, bearing an organization’s insignia or emblem and carried by the organization’s members. Traditionally, they are given to prove membership when challenged and to enhance morale. In addition, they are also collected by service members. In practice, challenge coins are normally presented by unit commanders in recognition of special achievement by a member of the unit. They are also exchanged in recognition of visits to an organization.
The Eisenhower Challenge Coin features the Presidential seal on the obverse surrounded by the words, Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum. On the reverse of the coin appears a relief depiction of the Eisenhower Boyhood Home with the five-star cluster above and the U.S. national flag and the Kansas state flag displayed to either side. The words "Dwight D. Eisenhower Boyhood Home" appear on the circumference ring surrounding the home and "Abilene, Kansas" appears on a banner directly below the home. The challenge coin comes packaged in a clear plastic blister pack.
The Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum Challenge Coin is a wonderful way to remember your visit to our world-renown institution and it makes a great gift for any history buff or Eisenhower enthusiast.
